Zeus Cloud Racing with WSR will debut at next weekend’s Snetterton British Touring Car Championship round with fan favourite Bobby Thompson at the wheel of a BMW 330e M Sport. The news ensures that a fourth BMW will be on the grid for the remainder of the season with multiple podium-finisher Bobby carrying his familiar #19 on the WSR designed, built, and run race car.

The 27-year-old from Hornchurch has scored three podium finishes in the BTCC over the past two seasons and was the series Jack Sears Trophy champion in 2022. He will now join Colin Turkington, Adam Morgan, and Jake Hill to complete a quartet of BMWs in the UK’s leading motor racing championship, every round of which is broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK and on ITV Sport’s TikTok channel globally. This exciting new partnership with 16-time BTCC champions WSR marks the first foray into the series.

As Zeus Cloud, we are dedicated to propelling businesses towards success in the ever-evolving digital landscape. Specializing in innovative technology services tailored for Managed Service Providers (MSPs), our mission is to empower organizations to thrive amidst today's technological challenges.

At the heart of our ethos lies a relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation across all facets of technology. This commitment drives us to continually seek out the most advanced solutions, ensuring our clients stay ahead of the curve.

Partnering with a team renowned for their technical prowess and commitment to advancement, such as WSR, is a natural fit for Zeus Cloud. This season, we are proud to stand alongside WSR in the BTCC, aligning our passion for innovative technology with a team synonymous with technical excellence.

Bobby’s BMW will carry the full Zeus Cloud Racing livery, which will be unveiled ahead of the Snetterton race weekend!

Bobby Tompson, Zeus Cloud Racing Driver said; “It's honestly a dream come true! This journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with relentless hard work and the tireless support of my incredible family. I'm immensely grateful to WSR for their unwavering belief in me, guiding me through every step, especially during the Brands Hatch test. And to Zeus Cloud and their visionary CEO, Mark, your support is beyond words – it's something I used to only dream about. With a team that's growing stronger by the day and support that's nothing short of amazing, I'm so excited to hit the track as soon as possible - I wish Snetterton was this weekend!”

Dick Bennetts, Team Principal at WSR, said; “We’re delighted to welcome Bobby and Zeus Cloud to WSR. It was always clear what a determined and tenacious racer Bobby was when he was a rival, but when he tested with us in April at Brands Hatch we saw just what his capabilities were on and off-track. A huge thank you to Zeus Cloud for making this programme possible. Their business is integrating cloud solutions to create one cohesive platform and running a motorsport team is very similar as we combine the skills of our team members to try to win on the racetrack. The partnership of Zeus Cloud, Bobby and the WSR BMW has everything needed to perform.”

Mark Grindey, CEO at Zeus Cloud, said; “Our team at Zeus Cloud are incredibly happy to collaborate with WSR and Bobby Thompson. It is refreshing and a fantastic opportunity to be working with people like Bobby who have worked their way up.”

“It is a fantastic opportunity for us to sponsor Bobby, especially with how aligned our values are. It was great to be able to see how family orientated they are at WSR and lovely to see how humble Bobby is. The rest of this year is going to be a pleasure and hopefully we can work with them in long term. Even though Bobby is a southerner - let's not hold it against him!”

Notes for editors:

In the 2023 second round of the British Tour Car Championship season at Brands Hatch, Bobby achieved his second podium finish of the tour, converting reverse grid pole into second place in the reverse grid race. He raced for Team Hard in four of his five BTCC seasons and has spent the past two years racing Cupra Leons for the Kent based team. Bobby was identified early in his career by the Motor Sports Association as an elite competitor and excelled in the Advanced Apprenticeship in sporting excellence. He is also an Association of Racing Driver Schools instructor, providing tutoring and mentorship for other drivers. He won the 2017 VW cup championship, with six wins and two-second place finishes and competed with Team Hard in the BTCC in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 he moved to Trade Price Cars Racing but suffered an injury in a major accident, putting an end to his season halfway through the year. After recovering in 2021, he re-joined the BTCC and Team Hard for the 2022 season and returned with a bang, winning the 2022 Jack Sears Trophy championship at the wheel of a Cupra Leon.
